On 27th November, 2024, Martin Waddell was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the An Post Irish Book Awards (IBAs). The first children’s author to ever receive this accolade, the IBAs produced this touching tribute to Martin’s incredible career spanning six decades, and presented it as part of the awards show which was broadcast on RTE One last week.
The video includes tributes from those he has worked with, such as Patrick Benson, the illustrator of Owl Babies, as well as the children’s writers Martin has inspired, such as Chris Haughton, the author of Oh No, George and Shh! We Have a Plan.
